Kilkenny 'Lions' win U15 Leinster Inter County Division 2

Sunday Nov 11th at 10am saw 11 enthusiastic teams from around the Province descend on Baldoyle Badminton Centre to compete in the Leinster U15 Inter County event.
Kilkenny were well represented by 18 players in the shape of 3 teams, The Lions, The Tigers and The Cats and all three teams were a credit to their families, clubs and county.The morning session was a Round Robin format to determine the rankings for the main competition after lunch. With the teams looking great in their county colours, matches were played in great spirits and were competitive with the final places in both Div. 1 and Div. 2 being decided on a countback of points. Kilkenny Lions only narrowly missing out on Div. 1, with Offaly and Meath B performing well to claim spots in Div. 2 from a hard fighting Louth team.
Kilkenny Lions who just missed out on Div 1 by count-back were determined not to slip up in Div 2 and took the title emphatically winning all 3 games, against Meath A and B and Offally 5-0. In fact over the course of the day the Lions played a total of 30 games of badminton and only lost 3, finishing with an impressive 27-3 record.
After all games were played, Dublin, Kilkenny Lions and Louth were the winners of their respective divisions, with Dublin going forward to represent Leinster in the All-Ireland Inter County event later in the season. The Overall results were as follows: Div. 1: 1st Dublin, 2nd Kildare A, 3rd Kildare B Div. 2: 1st Kilkenny Lions, 2nd Meath A, 3rd Offaly, 4th Meath B
